Tokio description

Tokyo is located in the region of Kantō island of Honshu in Japan.

Although Tokyo is considered one of the largest cities in the world, for the Japanese law is considered a “city” rather than a city, and in many ways similar to other prefectures in Japan.

Consists of 23 special wards, covering that which was previously the city of Tokyo now divided self-governing municipalities and also includes 26 other cities, 5 towns and 8 villages, each of which has a local government.

The boundaries of Tokyo will extend up to the Ogasawara Islands in the Pacific Ocean far up to 1,000 km. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is led by a publicly elected governor and metropolitan assembly located in the district of Shinjuku.
