The island of Lipari is the largest island in the Aeolian archipelago.
Lipari is not easily accessible, especially during winter months when weather and sea conditions may make it impossible to dock means that normally connect it to Sicily.
The Aeolian Archaeological Museum, the Acropolis in Via del Castello, is one of the most interesting of all, and with its objects is the testimony of more than 5000 years of civilization of the island archipelago. It is one of the most important of the Mediterranean and presents exhibitions in chronological order of grave furnishings, pots, stones, tomb steles and sarcophagi in stone that witnessed the evolution of the cult of the dead. Also pottery types and different styles, theater masks and clay sculptures.
