Stromboli description
The island of Stromboli is part of the archipelago of the Aeolian Islands, Tyrrhenian Sea basin in the western Mediterranean. It’s a volcanic island.
The name comes from ancient Greek Στρογγύλη, meaning “round“, given to the mountain to its shape.
The flow of tourists to the island, which is currently the main economic resource of Stromboli, till the seventies was represented mainly by people looking for a particular environment, natural and whole and yet not without inconvenience. In the decades since the discomfort is much reduced and tourism has expanded greatly, although still limited primarily to central summer months.
