Fortaleza is a city in northeastern Brazil, capital of the State of Ceará. Belongs to mesoregione Metro de Fortaleza in Fortaleza and microregion. The town is built on the banks of the river Pajeú, and is 2,285 kilometers from Brasilia.
This is the second most important city in the region after Salvador in Bahia, and is the fourth capital of Brazil. Fortaleza has an area of 336 square km. To the north is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the south borders the city of Pacatuba, Eusebio, and Maracanaú Itaitinga. To the east by the city of Aquiraz and the Atlantic Ocean. Finally to the west of the city Caucaia.
